Traffic Update in Barrington: Main Street closing at rail crossing June 12, 2023
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that repairs by the Union Pacific Railroad to a crossing on Main Street/Lake Cook Road, between Park Avenue and Ela Street in Barrington, will require a full closure starting, weather permitting, 9 a.m. Monday, June 12.
A posted detour will direct vehicular traffic to Hough Street (Illinois 59) and Northwest Highway (U.S.14). Truck traffic will be detoured to Hough Street, Dundee Road (Illinois 68) and Northwest Highway.
The work is expected to be complete by 5 p.m. Friday, June 23.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
