State Representative Martin McLaughlin (R-Barrington Hills) released the following statement in response to Illinois Democrat’s legislation to repeal the parental notification given before a minor child receives abortion services.
Rep. McLaughlin said, “Recent legislation was filed and passed in the Senate to take away a parent’s right to know when their child is undergoing a surgical procedure ending the life of an unborn child and altering the life of a minor child forever.”
“Allowing the state intervene in place of a parent is wrong,” says Rep. McLaughlin. “Are we kidding ourselves here? I can’t get my child a dental appointment or an eye exam without notification.”
“Seriously, if the state wants to exempt parental rights and obligations and become fully responsible for our children cradle to grave, please change our state flag to include a hammer and sickle ASAP,” concluded Rep. McLaughlin.
